The Moon and Stars are my Friends

Night Poems

You can come home now

Everything is still the same

Your clothes hung in the closet

For whatever has kept you long

I’ll even take the blame

Your chair at the table

Your sweatshirt by the door

The reality I am unable

To except anymore

My arms are open waiting

As my heart tries not to ache

My dreams anticipating

You will be here when I wake

I haven’t lost my mind

I’m quite aware of the truth

I’ve just been left behind

In this crazy world without you

And all the life and love we shared

Twirl ‘round me like a whirlwind

Memories I breath like air

Sweet temptations to pretend

That you’ll be coming home soon

I just have to wait a little longer

I just have to ask the moon

To help me to be stronger

August 24, 2020

Dear God, why would you take my love?

Why would you hurt me so?

That I could fly like a dove, to where he is I’d go.

My mind cannot convince my heart that you're not coming back.

Overwhelmed I listen to the stars, seeking the strength and faith I lack.

Glorious and infinite the night sky majestically declares

The infinite love of our Heavenly Father, Our Creator

Is all around us, above, beyond and everywhere.

Maybe today is the day you’ll come home instead.

Maybe somehow tonight‘s the night you lay with me in our bed.

And I’ll wake from the dream and nothing will be as it seems.

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory

in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants

you have estsblished a stronghold against your enemies,

to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor.

You made them rulers over the works of your hands;

yiu put everything under their feet

all flocks and herds,

and the animals of the wild,

the birds in the sky,

and the fish of the sea,

all that swim the paths of the seas,

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech;

night after night they reveal kniwledge.

They have no speech, they use no words;

no sound us heard from them.

Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world...

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart

be pleasing in your sight,

Lord, my rock and my redeemer

from Psalm 19
