Unforbidden

Gravity pulls on my soul

Paralyzed in my grief

I break the last commandments

Falsely accusing God’s own creation

Of thievery

A ripe cherry, permitted by the Creator

Dangles from her beak

And my heart cries out angrily

“It’s mine- you can’t take it!”

Away she soars in the sunlight

Heaven in her sights

Remarkably, I stand

On prayers

In the vineyard

Certain of

my Inability to fly

Agonizing in

My weighty humanity

Then

In brokenness

My heart hears the truth from yours-

My soul hears you speaking-

Years of wisdom pour into my spirit

Trust me

You know you can

You have wings

We have flown together

Countless intimate times

Flights into the heavenlies

When I was yours and you were fully mine

United, bare and shameless

In body, soul and spirit

We experienced the gift of eternity

You hold this ethereal glass

To clarify my vision

God is faithful, and not a thief

Abounding in love and

Ever present in your grief

I consider the tree we planted

So many years ago

Growing tall by your care

Fruitless, the blossoms only

Brought us joy to share

This season

God saw fit

To cover

It in abundant fruit

From heaven you are watching

The bounty unfold

As we gather and are nourished

With promises

From of Old

God has provided for our needs

And for the needs of others

Everything is His

You, my children, my life, my all

Are gifts from my trusted Father

To share with all creation

His beautiful redemptive plan

He forgives me for my anger

The bird flies in sacred flight

The perfectly planned provision

Grasped in her tiny beak

Heavy for this innocent creature

Mysteriously

Miraculously

The fruit does not fall

And Trust rises within my soul

“Don’t be deceived by my brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth, through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.”-James 1:16-18
